Yoro Waterfalls, Gifu
We take a day trip to Yoro Waterfalls for a short hike and a snack.
Yoro Waterfalls
The wife’s parents drove us to the base of Yoro Falls, about a 45 minutes drive from their home. It was my first time visiting, so wasn’t sure what to expect in terms of a hike up to the falls. It turns out, this is a pretty popular destination, and there is a paved path all the way up to the falls. I think we only hiked up for about 30 minutes, so it wasn’t very far or steep to the waterfall. The walk up was shaded and cooled by the river, so it was a nice break from the heat!
After reaching the top and taking a break, we headed over to the shrine nearby and then walked down some steep steps back to the path. There were some snack vendors along the path, so we couldn’t resist eating some big ‘dango’ (mochi balls). We also tried the apple cider soda made with the local spring water.
There are some more park activities nearby, but we decided to just chill at the river for a few minutes and dip our toes, before heading home. The river was nice and cool, but the rest of the park was probably a bit too hot to really enjoy.
